Ways to Reduce Stress and Create Amazing Success

In today’s fast-changing world, chronic stress is so common that people actually think it’s normal! If you listen to the news, this isn’t too surprising. It almost always sounds like things are getting worse and that there’s nothing you can do about it.

Most people believe that forces larger than themselves are preventing them from getting what they really want in life. It’s easy to fall into thinking that the world is working against you and there’s nothing you can do about it. Many people feel this way.

The effects of stress are an unfortunate consequence of this kind of thinking. The statistics are staggering. More than 70% of the population suffers regularly from psychological and/or physical symptoms of stress. It’s not just unpleasant. It destroys your opportunities to create the life you deeply desire.

Ready to take control of your stress and your life

WE HOPE SO! We did this and you can do it, too. When you set your mind to it, everything in your life can start to change, but you’re the only one who can do it. You alone generate your responses to the world around you. As John Milton stated so eloquently, “The mind is in its own place, and in itself can make a heaven of hell, a hell of heaven.”

Though it may not seem this way at first glance, situations are generally neutral. Our interpretations of them can make us feel happy or make us miserable. We realized that our responses to the world were dragging us down and decided to change.

Imagine that you are walking home and it starts to drizzle. Do you think, “What bad luck that it would start to rain right now” or might you think “We could really use some rain right now and a little drizzle never hurt anyone.” One response increases stress while the other makes you feel good. You might even decide to enjoy walking in the rain.

Here’s another example. Imagine someone you don’t know well approaches you and says “I heard you decided to join an optimists club. What were you thinking?” Would you be more likely to think the person is judging you or would you think the other person might be interested in learning more about what you’re doing?

In both cases, your response can create more or less stress. And as you may be seeing, prolonged stress can be devastating. The big picture is not a pretty one. Some estimate that around 90% of all illness is stress related. This includes heart disease, asthma, obesity, diabetes, headaches, depression, gastrointestinal problems, accelerated aging, and even premature death.

How to Turn Stress Into Happiness and Success

The first step in turning stress into happiness and success is simple. You CAN perceive and respond to situations differently. Then you can take positive steps to create the life you truly desire.

Taking control of your thinking is the first step in making any kind of positive change. Have you noticed how things always seem to work out for some people? Many say they are just lucky. You could also say that they create their own luck.

Wouldn’t be wonderful to be one of the luckiest people in the world and have more and more good things happening to you? You can! Milton’s thought that you alone make your life a heaven or hell is now a scientific fact. Your mind is powerful beyond belief and you have abilities that you haven’t even imagined.

The problem is that just about everyone has poor mental habits. When we think the same negative thoughts over and over, they become beliefs, our default ways of viewing the world. Our beliefs translate into well-traveled pathways in the brain that keep us stuck. Once they are established, we tend to travel on these same pathways again and again. Our beliefs also translate into genetic patterns that touch every cell of the body.

Contrary to popular opinion, your DNA is not fixed any more than your beliefs. You have the power to change the direction of your life on a DNA level! Isn’t that an amazing thought?

A Challenge for You

On this website, we suggest a variety of life-changing 30-day challenges. This is a coaching tool we use with our clients and students to help them to build new pathways in their brains and create positive mental habits, which transform stress into happiness and amazing success.

Here’s your challenge for the next 30 days. Starting NOW and as soon as you get up each morning, start repeating the following three statements to yourself throughout the day:

  • The world is on my side and anything is possible.
  • Things always work out miraculously well for me.
  • I am becoming one of the luckiest people in the world.

How do these thoughts compare with your habitual ways of viewing the world?

Would your life be less stressful if they were true for you?

If so, write them on sticky notes and post them everywhere. The more you say them and start to genuinely believe them, the closer you’ll get to creating heaven on earth. Stress will diminish and a new sense of well-being will start to emerge.

A key here is that you have to feel good when you say them. If you don’t feel good, it means you don’t believe them. If you are thinking “I can’t” or “I can,” either way you’re right.

When you feel good, you produce more thoughts that make you feel good (thinking “I can”), and spiral upward into greater levels of success. The opposite is also true. When you feel bad (thinking “I can’t”), you produce more thoughts that make you feel bad and spiral downward into more stress and ultimately you’ll fail to create the life you want.

Dealing with Negativity

If these positive statements make you feel angry or negative in any way, you simply don’t believe them. Don’t worry, that’s normal and we have a short cut to success. These tips and the other information on this website should get you started. Once you do, be sure to stay on track. As Earl Nightingale once said, “You get what you think about most of the time.” It takes about 30 days to change a habitual thought. If you program yourself with these three positive thoughts for 30 days, you can start to reduce stress and create amazing success in miraculous ways.
