How to Develop Your Intuition
We’ve seen in the first two parts of this series that intuition plays a uniquely transformational role in our daily lives and our personal growth. It alone holds the answers to life’s biggest questions.
Think of it this way. Intuition alone may identify your unique gifts, your next steps, and what’s in the way of a goal or the life you want to create. It’s also important to understand that it doesn’t follow that the path is then clear. Healing is often needed to clear the way to the life you're seeking.
We'll discuss this more and how to make the most of both intuition and healing with highly effective processes like EFT, the Emotional Freedom Techniques, here.
How to Access Your Intuitive Powers
In her perceptive book The Other Side and Back, renowned psychic Sylvia Browne addresses the question of how to open to your intuitive powers. From her perspective, a psychic development class would be the world’s shortest class.
Sylvia Browne's three key steps go something like this:
1. Ask a question to your higher wisdom or some higher power
2. Open your mind to receive this wisdom
3. Accept the first response you get
This is fine if you don’t have any of the blocks we mentioned earlier, in Part One of this series. As a reminder, blocks may include things like the following: fear of ridicule, fear of being wrong, frustration about lack of progress, feeling inadequate, and more.
We would also add the following to Sylvia Browne’s approach:
4. Develop a structure for accessing information, like a new intuitive language. This is what we teach, and we imagine it might amaze you as much as it did us, our students and clients.
5. Clear emotional and mental blocks to opening and trusting your intuition. Fortunately, this is very doable with EFT, the Emotional Freedom Techniques.
In our opinion, this last point should actually be the starting point, because clearing emotional and mental blocks with powerful techniques like EFT can save weeks, months, or even years of struggling with the first three steps.
Our point #4 is also critical to your success. You need to have a way to organize the information that’s coming to you from the higher dimensions through your intuition. This is another place where our approach excels. We show our students exactly how they can access just about any kind of information they may be seeking.
The Combination of the Intuitive and the Rational Mind
This is another important factor: making full use of your inner resources. Some people look at the battle between dominance of the rational and intuitive minds as an either/or choice. This is limiting. We are built with both because we need both. It’s like a marriage between heaven and earth.
It’s interesting to realize that many highly successful people value their intuition and rely on it to make major decisions. Steve Jobs, the man who invented the apple computer, attributed his success to intuition.
"Intuition is a very powerful thing,
more powerful than intellect, in my opinion."
Intuition has even been recognized as an important factor in Entrepreneur magazine:
“As an entrepreneur, one of the most important habits to cultivate is trust -- not trust in others (however, that’s important too), but trust in yourself. How many times have you missed an opportunity because you listened to the advice of others rather than trusting a feeling that you had? It happens to the best of us, but in order to truly be successful, you have to learn how to trust yourself and follow your heart.”
It’s also interesting that Entrepreneur magazine identified the simple key to unlocking your intuition: following your heart. From a spiritual perspective, the heart is the most significant part of the body. It is the center of your being and the bridge to the soul's higher awareness.
Over the ages, Eastern spiritual traditions have viewed the heart as the seat of the soul. More recently, the heart has been identified from a scientific perspective by the HeartMath Institute as a “second brain,” one that has the ability to lift our human experience to a new level of coherence and inner knowing.
Helen Keller explained it this way:
“The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen
or even touched – they must be felt with the heart.”
The essence of our approach to intuition, healing, and life, all revolves around a single key: a process for connecting with the "heart and soul." We call it Soul Centering. By connecting you with the elevated energy of your heart and the frequency of love, this process takes you into an optimal state for opening to higher levels of awareness and inner guidance.
Our Process for Accessing Your Intuition
Here is a brief summary of the Soul Centering Process
1. Find a relaxing place where you can enjoy a few quiet moments of reflection.
2. Close your eyes and take a few nice, deep, nurturing breaths as you let go of the thoughts that usually run through your head.
3. Imagine breathing loving energy into your heart. Feel the love in your heart and allow it to expand out, touching every cell of your body with love and flowing out all around you.
4. Relax for a bit in this peaceful place, breathing love into your heart, and notice the profound simplicity of the moment. As you feel this peace and the feeling of being centered in the truth of who you are, put your hand on your heart and feel the energy there.
For now, and in the future, this place of connectedness with the love you hold in your heart can be your center. Any time you feel like you are losing yourself in momentums, stress, anxiety, confusion, or the like, you can slow down for a moment, put your hand on your heart, breathe in some love, and return to your center.
This is also the place where you can access your inner guidance and wisdom. And as you can see, this is just the first step. There’s much, much more, and it's all covered in the EFT Intuitive Healer Course, for personal or professional use.
