What are some of the most important skills for anyone who wants to create a more joyful and fulfilling life? Emotional intelligence and emotional healing.
Emotional intelligence is the ability to understand, manage, and express one's emotions in healthy ways. It includes having a healthy understanding of the emotions of others. From this perspective, learning the keys to emotional healing is a valuable skill, both personally and professionally.
Unfortunately, many people experience a wide range of emotional states without ever understanding why they sometimes feel happy or sad, expansive or restricted. A lot of them experience their emotional worlds as roller coasters with dramatic ups and downs.
Psychologist and author Deborah Rozman made a critical point:
"If you don't manage your emotions, your emotions will manage you."
This perception highlights the importance of emotional intelligence and emotional healing. Expansive emotions like love, happiness, gratitude, and enthusiasm lift our spirits. They also confirm that we are headed in the direction of our dreams and desires.
Look at it this way. When we feel good about ourselves and our possibilities, our emotions support us in being energized and enthusiastic about where we are going. Sadly, when we feel bad about ourselves and our possibilities, a prolonged experience of restrictive emotions like fear, anger, frustration, confusion, sadness, worry, and more can drag us down.
In this place, life can feel stressful and bleak. Just about all of us have been there - down in the dumps. Fortunately, we have choices, which takes us to the reasons you may want to explore emotional intelligence and emotional healing.
Why You Need Emotional Intelligence and Emotional Healing
As Deborah Rozman suggested, the key to a more joyful life lies in your ability to manage your emotions. This is where emotional intelligence and its cousin, emotional healing, come in.
The problem arises when restrictive emotions dominate us for prolonged periods of time. We aren't made to live continuously with restrictive emotions like fear, stress, anxiety, worry, anger, etc. This indicates that we are stuck, stressed and wasting energy we could use for positive purposes, like enjoying life more and realizing our dreams.
Over time, restrictive emotions can even erode our health. When emotions get stuck, we may also notice that our possibilities to create a better life are correspondingly limited.
When this happens, we may lose our positive sense of self, along with confidence in where we are going. We also lack the wherewithal to think clearly enough to access the power of the mind and find productive solutions to the challenges we face.
In such states, feelings of physical well-being may also become constricted, potentially leading to pain and disease. Chronic stress has been connected to just about every major disease. This fact highlights the importance of developing emotional intelligence and learning emotional healing. You may not believe this is impossible for you - becoming more emotionally intelligent and being able to heal some of your emotional wounds - but you may be wrong.
The Power of Emotional Healing
One of the most valuable processes we have found for emotional healing is the Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT). It’s fast and easy, so countless thousands of individuals and professionals use it regularly with beneficial results.
With is effectiveness, many people doubt that just about anyone can do EFT. Fortunately, you can find out for yourself in a matter of minutes.
Once you learn how to do EFT, you possess a skill that can benefit you (and possibly those you love) for the rest of your life.
We wouldn't want to be without it. Renowned author, doctor, and alternative healing advocate Deepak Chopra says that “EFT offers great healing benefits,” and we agree.
The best part is that EFT defies the common belief that emotional healing is difficult, painful, and time consuming. When we first saw EFT, we had a hard time believing that normal people with normal problems can accomplish so much healing with EFT. Now, when we know we are harboring stuck emotions, we often clear them with EFT.
The basic process most people go to with the Emotional Freedom Techniques involves tapping on a series of points on the body that balance the energy system. Author and motivational speaker Jack Canfield, who calls EFT “tapping therapy,” has this to say about EFT:
“Tapping Therapy stimulates the body’s own ability to release stored pain of any kind. The results are nothing short of miraculous.”
Since it involves tapping, EFT may seem strange at first, so we recommend approaching it with an open mind. We've been using it for several decades now and found ways to deepen it with a holistic approach.
Here's a Simple Way to Start
What do you have to lose? EFT is so fast and easy, you can probably learn how to do it today with the Holistic EFT Magic in Minutes Quick Start Kit.
In the 1990's, we first saw EFT at a conference where a man was suffering from a deathly fear of public speaking. Having had it for most of his life, it seemed unlikely to us that much could change with EFT, but we were wrong.
With a bit of tapping, this man's whole demeanor changed. To our surprise, he was completely comfortable on a stage in front of hundreds of people within less than ten minutes.
This kind of transformation was hard to believe, but we couldn't resist trying it for ourselves. It worked for us, too, so we tried it for some of our clients and students. They generally had positive results, too.
We continued to use EFT and by the late 1990's, we were so enthusiastic about it that we wrote one of the first books on the subject, which is called Getting Thru to Your Emotions with EFT.
Since then, as well-known innovators in the field, we've developed a uniquely holistic approach. As mentioned earlier, we now call our unique processes Holistic EFT. Having drawn tools from Holistic Hypnotherapy, NLP, Spiritual Healing, and more, Holistic EFT also takes the process deeper. It’s powerful, effective, and enlightening.
Recognizing the powerful role emotional healing can play in your life comes with developing your emotional intelligence. This, too, is an important key to your personal and spiritual growth, and Holistic EFT can play an important role.
How to Increase Your Emotional Intelligence with EFT
We avoid defining emotions as positive or negative, understanding them as expansive, supportive, and energizing or restrictive, limiting, and de-energizing. This approach allows us to address them more resourcefully.
Your emotions also hold the key to sorting out the thousands of thoughts that run through your head each day. Some experts estimate that most people have around 50,000 to 70,000 thoughts each day. This is a lot, which brings us to a critical key that highlights the value of emotional healing.
Your Emotions Hold the Key to Positive Thinking
This is not widely known, and myriads of people struggle to tap into the power of positive thinking. Without this important key, many fail.
This is how it works. Each emotion you feel represents a group of thoughts. If you are feeling anxious emotionally, for example, you may also be having dozens of thoughts.
You may be thinking about how the world is falling apart, about how your spouse isn’t helping things, about how it’s really the fault of your father, who never made you feel safe, and how you’ll never get anywhere with all of this occurring. You may also be feeling like you are unworthy of the good things in life.
The Importance of Emotional Healing
The cascading effect of restrictive emotions explains why emotional healing is so practical and important. Clearing a single emotional block can eliminate a huge cascade of debilitating thoughts. This, in turn, opens the door to a more expansive and productive frame of mind.
With tools like Holistic EFT, users can often clear the restrictive emotions that have been creating troubling thoughts for days, months, or even years with surprising ease.
As you may notice from the "Words to Live By" image, light, expansive words can be healing in themselves. Focusing on concepts like love, gratitude, joy, ease and others on this list can generate emotional healing and build emotional intelligence.
Another Key to Emotional Intelligence
It’s also worth noting that some emotions are neutral, not expansive or restrictive. We all need breaks, and neutral emotions allow us to be at rest. In the long term, however, more expansive emotions lift us more firmly onto the path to the lives we desire.
Here's an overview of the range of emotions:
There are, of course, more emotions, and you can guess where they fit in this scenario. You may also notice the difference in the way you feel physically as you read each list. This is because your emotional world connects directly to your physical well-being.
When, for instance, you feel sad, because someone has hurt you emotionally, you may feel corresponding tightness in your heart. Or when you feel angry emotionally, like you can’t stomach the behavior of another person, you may actually feel that pain physically.
The Fascinating World of Emotional Healing
When you do emotional healing with Holistic EFT, symptoms like the ones described above can change dramatically. Like so many users, we can’t imagine being without it. Here’s what one of our students has to say about Holistic EFT:
“I've been using EFT for any immediate, unpleasant fear, agitation or frustration that comes up, to stay on top of things. And it works. Spiritually, I use EFT to reinforce going with the flow and acceptance of whatever arises. Personally, I will continue to use the techniques to deal with day-to-day troublesome emotions. Professionally, I will continue to integrate the techniques into a psychotherapy practice."
Holistic EFT may be the opportunity you have been seeking to build emotional intelligence and enjoy life more. Now, we invite you to find out for yourself.
